Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which should I use — Mac App Store version or DMG version? The DMG (open-source web download) version is recommended where possible. The Mac App Store version may frequently fail to obtain some TUN network proxy driver permissions due to Apple's sandbox policy, leading to higher rates of connection drops or failures.

Q. After closing the screen and coming back from sleep mode, the internet doesn't work for a long time. The VPN tunnel is also suspended during sleep state. It typically takes about 2–3 seconds to resume connection upon waking.

Q. An access denied error appears when I click "Add from clipboard". Under the latest macOS security policy, a top notification popup asks for permission when an app reads text (clipboard) from another app. You must click Allow for the import to work properly.

Q. A system administrator password input window appears on first connection. This is the normal process for Hiddify requesting "Network Extension" or "System Proxy" permissions in order to globally bypass the Mac's network. Please allow it by entering your fingerprint (Touch ID) or Mac password.

Q. How should I set the Proxy mode in settings? Keeping the default Rule state means domestic networks like messaging apps and local websites will not go through VPN and will maintain fast speeds, while only blocked or slow overseas networks will be selectively bypassed.
